Pete Sessions on Record Covertly Supporting Amnesty Through Paul Ryan

I was sent a couple audio files from Pete Sessions' Town Hall meeting last weekend where Sessions was asked about his support of Paul Ryan for Speaker of the House.

Pete Sessions openly admits he is indeed supporting Paul Ryan, despite his open support of amnesty.

Happy listening!

My Eternal Gratitude

I am always a bit taken aback when I meet people around DFW who tell me they read my blog and that they really love it. I never quite know how to respond because I was never really good with compliments so I apologize if I haven't seemed gracious. Believe me, I feel utterly star struck and unworthy at your having approached me.

Honestly, I never thought anyone would want to read my ramblings, occasional gutter mouth, and sometimes general silliness.  At times I feel rather politically redundant, like a broken record, just repeating the message only with a new set of words or pictures.

I'm just a little antisocial gal from Detroit that has made Texas my home, but everywhere I go I meet people who are reading, people who quote my blog, people who email me to tell me how much they enjoy it, people who have heard about it but haven't looked yet, and even a Precinct Chair I met today who had printed copies of one of my blog posts. Wowser!

I'm happy that I can be a source of information and that sometimes my banal musings and snarky quips even entertain you.  Because of this I believe it is important that I occasionally take the time to let readers know just how grateful and thankful I am for you.

I suppose thanking readers is not something political bloggers generally do.  Politics is such a sobering, serious, and unsexy matter, and the blogosphere is filled with sober, serious, and unsexy writers who approach the blogging task like serious journalists.  I don't want to.  I want to show a peek into my life with humor and tidbits tossed in because this is a hobby and I crave getting a rip roaring laugh out of some of the antics I get up to, like the time a friend and I scammed Battleground Texas. Now, that was a hoot.

So to all those readers, I want to thank you back for taking the time to thank me. You are the ones who motivate me to continue writing. So thank you!

Buses Filled with Recruited Illegals Stop Daily in Small North Texas Town

Photo credit Ray Meyers | Border Invasion  https://vimeo.com/142693382
Just as the sleeping giant sits mesmerized by the pigskin ball every weekend shouting in anger that Tony Romo's absence is causing their losses, except even present he has yet to take them all the way to a Super Bowl win anyway, something interesting is going on in Rockwall, Texas.

Like clockwork, buses full of illegals are making a pit-stop at the TA Travel Center truck stop on I30. Might I remind everyone that Rockwall is just a short trip from Wylie down the 205?

In fact, it has been documented that between half a dozen to a dozen buses, filled with approximately 80 illegal aliens each, stop at the TA nearly every day. Dare to do the math.

The illegals make a stop in the TA Travel Center and buy their snacks with crisp $100 bills.  Who is bringing them? A group called Southwest Keys out of Florida.

Photo credit Ray Meyers | Border Invasion  https://vimeo.com/142693382
Southwest Keys is nothing more than the renaming of Obama's ACORN. Remember them? ACORN was caught committing voter fraud all over the US in 2008. This is just one of the ways Obama intended to fundamentally change America.

These images were recently taken from surveillance at that TA Travel Center in Rockwall and are part of a comprehensive video presentation given recently by Ray Meyers, Chairman of the Kaufman County Tea Party which you can VIEW HERE. Though the sound is difficult, take note at about the 8:30 mark where discussion of the buses stopping in Rockwall is taken up, and video interviews take place.

It is infuriating to see illegals being brought here under our noses, but to see even sick illegals arriving is just plain reckless.  As the bus looms in the background with illegals continuing to disembark, you can see this passenger is sick and is wearing a medical mask.

This should piss you off to no end, folks.  These people are being actively recruited from Mexico by the Obama administration and their cronies.  Under Federal Immigration Law, Section 8 USC 1324 (A) (D1) (IV) (B) (III) it states that any US Citizen that knowingly assists an illegal alien providing them employment, food, water, shelter, or transport has committed a felony.

(A)Any person who—(i)knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien;(ii)knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;(iii)knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;(iv)encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or(v)(I)engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or(II)aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts, shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).(B)A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs—(i)in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i) or (v)(I) or in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), or (iv) in which the offense was done for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both;(ii)in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), (iv), or (v)(II), be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both;(iii)in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) during and in relation to which the person causes serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 of title 18) to, or places in jeopardy the life of, any person, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both; and(iv)in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both.
Gutter politics were used as Christians the country over sent food and teddy bears to those poor little kids.  They don't look quite so little now, do they?

In fact, all manner of people are involved in this recruitment and support process overtly, covertly, and even inadvertently, yet nobody does a damned thing about this.  And you wonder why Donald Trump's illegal immigrant stance is so popular? Look no further as they walk up to the Rockwall TA truck stop.

Photo credit Ray Meyers | Border Invasion  https://vimeo.com/142693382
These people are being transported to an empty army base in Chicago, checked in, and then dispersed into society.  So who is the criminal  now, aiding and abetting with donations, teddy bears, hundred dollar bills, pit-stop toilets, and bus drivers?

Photo credit Ray Meyers | Border Invasion  https://vimeo.com/142693382

Photo credit Ray Meyers | Border Invasion  https://vimeo.com/142693382
Just when you thought the massive influx was over after it peaked in April and seemingly tapered off as the mainstream media conveniently ignored it, you should know that the march has continued steady on. With oppressive heat of the summer months having passed, you can expect the illegal alien crisis to step back up again as they make their way through our border by the thousands.

Pete Sessions Show Vote on Reconciliation Bill H.R. 3762

The Reconciliation Bill has been nothing more than a smoke and mirrors effort to prop up squishy Republicans during this election season.  Sessions and the House members know full well Obama will veto anything that comes across his desk with language to defund Obamacare or Planned Parenthood.  So reconciliation was happily passed by the House on Friday, all so they can dust off their hands, and go home to tell their constituents in Town Hall meetings just how hard they tried to defund Obamacare and Planned Parenthood.  Meanwhile, Obama vetoes it, but that's not their fault then, is it? Well actually it is.

Last Spring, in the budget blueprint, the House set instructions for the Senate to consider a full repeal of Obamacare. This was done to set a benchmark for future repeal efforts, and also to be used as a “dry run”. Now, the narrative of reconciliation was changed to only partial repeal instead, and when further efforts to push for a full defunding of Obamacare came forth, House Rules Chair Pete, Sessions closed the bill. Pete Sessions frantically attempted to get this Reconciliation Bill passed as quickly as he could because he is not serious about a complete repeal of Obamacare. He is on record for making statements in the past saying that it can't be defunded and by the way why would we want to?

This Reconciliation Bill leaves the main pillars of Obamacare in place.  It only goes after 17 out of 400+ provisions, and leaves the new insurance rules in place along with provisions of Medicaid expansion, exchange subsidies, tax increases, and Medicare cuts which all qualify for reconciliation.

It is generally recognized that Obamacare will be much easier to repeal all at once, particularly because of its unpopularity when taken as a whole, and reconciliation now threatens full repeal thanks to splitting up the defunding effort.

Plus the provision for Planned Parenthood is merely a “show vote” to mask the fact there was no real fight for defunding Planned Parenthood in the last CR, which is actually the better vehicle for defunding Planned Parenthood than trying to do it through reconciliation.

In fact, with the Planned Parenthood provision, it runs the risk of not passing the Senate either since we have seen Republican senators vote against defunding it in recent weeks.  Even Senators Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio issued a joint statement that they will not support any bill from the house that does not include full Obamacare repeal language. This is an underwhelming “defunding” effort by the House, to say the least.

By settling for a partial repeal, the Reconciliation Bill closed the door on resolving key procedural fights, and lowers the bar for our future GOP Congress and President to follow. With all due respect, this was a checkers strategy in a chess game.

So my question is, why did Pete Sessions and the House not use this reconciliation to make sure that any procedural hurdles to fully defund Obamacare were corrected, so it can become a reality in 2017 when we get a Republican president in the White House?

The answer from Pete Sessions was to pass the buck onto the Senate and their 60 vote rule.  The fact is, Sessions is taking the stance that the Senate has fully adjudicated full repeal, except they haven't. And any effort by the House to pass a less robust bill is futile.  They should pass a full repeal bill and let the Senate work out the Byrd rule.  Sessions skirted over my question about using reconciliation as a trial run.  Rather, he focused on how important it is to pass something that will never be signed into law. And he agreed with me when I stated that the Senate will never pass this bill with the Planned Parenthood language.  The House needed to focus on a bill that fully repeals Obamacare instead of worrying about having 51 votes to gut Obamacare which results in a veto just so they can point fingers. In reality, reconciliation didn't gut Obamacare, House members gutted their promise to their constituents to fully defund Obamacare.

The tragic reality is that Obamacare will never be fully repealed as long as squishy House Republicans like Pete Sessions are allowed to remain in office.

Never Let Them See You Sweat

Nothing screams voter engagement more than a sea of empty chairs.  This was the scene of Pete Sessions' Town Hall held in Wylie this afternoon.  At the podium, Wylie's Mayor Hogue is introducing Pete Sessions. Though a handful of stragglers came in late, I identified at least 5 people in attendance who were stooges planted from his Dallas County supporters.  It wasn't hard to spot the ones who came in chatting with Sessions' staff and complaining about how long the drive was.

Still, several of us asked him the hard questions and suffice to say, we made him sweat....

And he baited and switched as usual.

His very pleasant staff spent some time speaking to a couple people after the event and made sure to tick off all the typical talking points from her memorized list. However, more telling is that she spent an inordinate amount of time telling us that when Pete Sessions is not in Washington DC, he spends all his time in Dallas at his town home. Really. All.

My, that does make for an interesting marital relationship since his wife lives in Winter Park, Florida all the time. Yes, they really do think his constituents are that stupid.

Folks, I'm not going to get into any personal mud slinging here, Sessions' staff has been quite adept in doing that in his past campaign.  We'll leave the wife out of the campaign, however the constitutionality of his residence is not mud-slinging, it is a very valid question and one that rightfully persists in the minds of voters.

Tomorrow's Pete Sessions Town Hall in Wylie Moved

Evidently Cooper Junior High lost power today so I received a call from Pete Sessions' staff that his town hall meeting is being moved to McMillan Jr. High in Wylie from 1:00 - 2:30.

Bring your questions.....

The Power of Grassroots and Earworms

I have an overwhelming desire to have a theme song when it comes time to work on someone's campaign.  It is important for me to find something that pretty much sums up my work on the campaign but also sums up my feelings about the opposing candidate. My theme song runs through my mind like a bad earworm.  I fall asleep to it. I wake up to it.  Always running, it gives me the drive to get up and do it all over again.

When I worked on Katrina Pierson's Congressional campaign against Pete Sessions, the song I lived that season was The Neighborhood's Afraid.

Though Katrina did not win, she did take Collin County from Pete Sessions, with my help.  This is why the rat bastard Sessions is hanging around here hoping to pick up those lost votes in a city that hardly votes at all.  With more than 19K registered voters and only 2,100 voting in the 2014 primary, you would think he had more important places to be, but then again it's less time he has to spend in the more critical areas of Congressional District 32, so rock on.

I like to think that Afraid helped motivate and drive me during that campaign, because I'm not gonna lie, grassroots campaigning is a crap ton of hard work, especially when you hold a full time job, and hold down the fort at home because supporting your husband and kids is THE most important job you ever signed up for.  They may be 20 and 22, but I still  help nurture the personal growth and close relationships of these incredible beings I helped bring into this world, but I digress.

I've just returned from my first campaign meeting for Russ Ramsland for Congress and I am feeling the need to find my theme song for this campaign silly season.  I need a song that I can call to mind which reminds me of why I'm just looney enough to take on another Congressional campaign after I swore to myself I wouldn't do it again after Katrina's.  I guess, like all the cool kids that were there tonight, I just don't see anything worthwhile in keeping Pete Sessions around. So for my theme song, this time I've selected Cold War Kids First.

My selection is not represented so much in what the artists thought the words mean, it's how I interpret and apply them to the job Pete Sessions is doing in office.  He's been there, but he has totally let us down.  For example, in the perfect words of my friend Wade Miller of Heritage Action on House Reconciliation Bill H.R. 3762,
"Members of Congress are hiding. We elected a Republican majority to fully repeal Obamacare and to Defund Planned Parenthood. Neither is done with the current Reconciliation Bill. Congress should go back to the drawing board and produce a bill which fully repeals Obamacare and defunds Planned Parenthood through a rider on the CR this December. Now is not the time to hide. Congress should lead."
Because of the perpetual despair these idiots in the House cause us, despite us sending them there to do our will, I think it's time for Sessions to go away.  As House Rules Chair, there it not one piece of legislation that does not cross his desk, and I blame him and his hind licking of John Boehner for the direction the House has headed.  Clearly the referendum we sent them on Election Day last November has been lost on them.

I think by now I've made it pretty clear that I will do whatever work is necessary to remove Pete Sessions' nearly two decade grip on this district, even if that means working on multiple campaigns against him. This is an incredible statement considering he ran on term limits his very first go. Because of this, you can be assured that my theme song this season will be playing through my head as many times as necessary. You see, I believe we've got Pete Sessions this time, and I will need that theme song to drown out the periphery so I can maintain focus and do the work that needs to be done so that we can prove once again, the power of grassroots.

The Demise of Pete Sessions Begins

I am pleased to report that my friend and fellow patriot Russ Ramsland has announced that he is running against Pete Sessions to represent Congressional District 32.  And so it begins.....

Pete Sessions Dirty Pillow Talk

No two ways about it, Pete Sessions is still one of Boehner's Guys, passing every liberal policy from Obama's administration.  This blog post is long, and detailed, but it is certainly full of good, verifiable information you can pass along.  In fact, if you are still a Pete Sessions supporter after reading this, then you simply cannot call yourself a conservative.

On October 7th, 2015 Pete Sessions posted a press release that he has voted to establish a select panel to investigate Planned Parenthood.  It begs to be asked, what took him so long?  It's only been 3 agonizing months since those horrifying videos of mutilated baby bits and random pricing cat calls started showing up in the webosphere.

In fact, it's been a month since I asked Pete Sessions if he would take the Rep. Mulvaney pledge on defunding Planned Parenthood at his last Town Hall meeting, Rather, I meant to say that I asked Sessions in writing, of course, because his staff selects and edits written questions at his faux town hall meetings instead of allowing any real discourse between constituent and his majesty.

Though he claimed he work to defund Planned Parenthood, he has done nothing of the sort. When it came time to defund Planned Parenthood, the House knew full well it would not pass in the Senate, so they happily took their token vote so they could grandstand to the peeps at home. "Lookie at how conservative I am, I voted not to fund PP for a year." Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood got funded through December 11, when all the crybabies in Washington DC will blow their noses in embroidered and freshly ironed hankies, and claim they simply cannot shut down the government just before Christmas.  Heavens no.  And Planned Parenthood will be funded thusly.  You see, it's how the game is played up there in the fairyland called Washington DC.

Here is a list of similar smoke and mirrors games showing how Pete Sessions performs great feats of prestidigitation for his constituents every time he tells us what a great conservative he is:

Since 1997, Pete Sessions has voted to raise the debt ceiling no fewer than eight times.

In 1998, Pete Sessions voted to allow companies to bring in foreign replacement workers after laying off Americans.

In 2003, Pete Sessions voted to pass "Part D" of one of the largest federal entitlement expansions since the passage of Medicare, which added trillions of dollars to our long-term unfunded liabilities in the US.

In 2004, Pete Sessions voted against restricted federal taxpayer money for medical care to illegals.

In 2005, Pete Sessions voted against an amendment to HR 2360 which would encourage states to improve standards to obtaining drivers' licenses, thereby stopping the ability of illegals to obtain them.

In 2006, Pete Sessions made the CREW's most corrupt report.

Against the vehement wishes of his own constituents, Pete Sessions voted in 2008 to bail out Wall Street, after which bailed-out banks paid million-dollar bonuses to their executives.

In 2009, Pete Sessions couldn't  help but support yet another big spending bill called the International Monetary Fund this time.  Seems these big spending bills just call his name.

In the New Year's Day deal of 2013, during that dreaded and overly hyped "fiscal cliff", Pete Sessions voted to increase taxes on approximately 77% of US households.

House Resolution 36 was introduced by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) January 18, 2013 and referred to the Rules Committee which by the way is chaired by Pete Sessions, on the same day.  It calls for a full-time select committee investigation into the Benghazi terrorist attacks and was supported by 186 House Republicans.  It was held up by Pete Sessions for over a year, in fact, nothing was done until May 2, 2014,

Chart courtesy of Grassroots Texans
HR 933, House Resolution 99, on March 5, 2013, Pete Sessions used his House Rules Chair leadership position to block conservative Republicans from defunding Obamacare.  When challenged by constituents, he exclaimed, "We don't want to stop it."
"Said Texas Congressman and Chairman of the House Rules Committee Pete Sessions during a townhall meeting with around 50 constituents:What we’re trying to do is let [Obama] be a failure. … Otherwise it’s “Republicans stopped us from achieving what you wanted.” We do not want to stop it. And I think these governors are probably pretty smart."
This is the problem with the way the House has been playing the game.  They are so busy keeping up appearances, that they don't want to do anything that could possible place blame on them.  They pretend that their ridiculous stance, which goes against their constituent's desires, is a ruse to call out Democrats.  Problem is, this tactic doesn't, hasn't, and will never work.

Chart courtesy of Grassroots Texans
Pete Sessions likes to call people silly at his town halls for saying he supported funding of Obamcare.  He always snaps that there wasn't one Republican who voted for Obamacare.  Well, um, there wasn’t, however most of those Obamacare defunding votes were merely token votes.  They knew full well, in a procedural fast one, when the bills made it to the senate, they would be shot down. Again, this is a prime example of Sessions' desire not to rock the liberal boat.  That's dirty, dirty, dirty, no matter how you look at it.

Graph credit, Grassroots Texans, 2014
HR 2217 on June 6, 2013, found Pete Sessions as the only Texas House delegate who did not vote to stop Obama's "Dream Act" amnesty by Executive Order.

HR 2397 on July 24, 2013 found Pete Sessions voting in support of Obama's NSA program, thereby supporting the NSAs spying on Americans

January 15, 2014, Pete Sessions voted for $1.1 Trillion 1,582 page Omnibus Spending Bill , without giving the American public a chance to read it, which increased government spending dramatically.

January 29, 2014, Pete Sessions voted to approve a 949 page, Trillion-dollar Food Stamp and Farm Bill without giving Congress or the American public a chance to read it.  Had they, we would have known the bill created new subsidy programs, eliminated 80% of earlier savings in the food stamp program, and gutted modest work requirements.

Pete Sessions' record is there, all you have to do is look this stuff up.

In fact, Pete Sessions has a terrible illegal immigrant record as well.

Numbers USA, 2013

The sad reality is, Pete Sessions' voting record is so bad, we need to tell him to stop voting with Nancy Pelosi.

Chart credit Grassroots Texans, 2015
We cannot afford to overlook a crap ton of liberal-leaning, dirty votes, especially from someone who feels he is up to the Speaker of the House challenge.  Does he really think his constituents will support him in some sort of starry-eyed haze because he's going for the top spot?  The man is delusional and now is the time to remove him from Congressional District 32.

Running on Arrogance: Establishyster Pete Sessions

Seems like old man Petey, Petey, RePetey Sessions can't seem to make his mind up lately.  He wants Speaker of the House, he wants Whip, he wants Speaker of the House.  He wants, wait for it........................ wait for it....................Nae Nae.

Hells, I've seen women switch nail colors less quickly. Then again, Pete Sessions has a difficult time remembering things, especially what his constituents in CD32 want from him. Maybe it's just plain time to retire, no?

Indeed, Uncle Pete wants the top House spot, but only if Paul Ryan doesn't want it. Gee, that sounds promising. Could any two names scream establishyster louder? Certainly Pete Sessions' name is up there with establishits John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham, and John McCain. I mean, nothing makes eyeballs roll faster than the utterance of one of those names.

The man is delusional.  If Kevin McCarthy's name made people spit blood, and Paul Ryan's name makes people's heads spin while vomitting green stuff, imagine the kind of baby seal clubbing that will be done to Pete Sessions should he make a bid for Speaker.

So, not only does Pete Sessions think he can handle the most hated position in the GOP at the moment, but he is considering the bid while he is already virulently hated at home in his teensy weensy, but important CD32 district. Guess he is used to being truly hated, except his behavior in the district lately screams more thin skin pique than fear of hatred.

I wonder, what with all this time spent in DC trying to carry the support for Speaker of the House, will he have enough time to spare for little old Wylie?  That's right, once again the little town of Wylie is in the spotlight.

It seems, with Pete Sessions' DC power prowess and all , guess where he has been spending an inordinate amount of time these past 6 months? You might have guessed, he's been burning rubber towards the tiny sliver of Collin County that makes up his District 32.  Indeed, Wylie, Texas has made it on his radar finally.  Suddenly, after we have been dead to him since redistricting in 2011 which sent Wylie into his district, he's all up in here playing footsie with the chamber, the mayor and council, and the school district.  Except, while the rest of us savvy voters have been playing Stratego, he's been in a town that spawns very little interest in the way of voting, playing Candyland.

That's right, there have been multiple Petey sightings in the ever so politically important town of Wylie, Texas, like with the Chamber of Commerce, at the WISD school district, at the Barbara Bush Republican Women's group.  No surprise, all well known bastions of liberal or establishment thought. Still, the one group Sessions hasn't bothered to spend any time with in Wylie is the conservatives.  Go figure.

No seriously, Sessions has made all these trips to Wylie for only 2187 people who voted here, in his astounding display of arrogance, and juvenile desire to be relevant.  Now that's funny.

Does Pete Sessions truly believe he will gain back the votes he lost in 2014, just by showing his face around Wylie now that it's election season?  I guess he thinks those backwoods Wylie folk, with missing teeth, and nefarious crotch rashes are stupid or something.  Either that, or it seems his tender ego cannot take the fact he lost 43.67% to 56.33% of Katrina Pierson's Collin County win. He sure has his priorities within his district straight, doesn't he?

You would like to think he would be spending his time down in Dallas county which makes up a huge portion of Congressional District 32.  Especially since all we need to do to put him in a massive tailspin is to get both Russ Ramsland and Katrina Pierson to run, along with candidate Paul Brown.

With the numbers these three would pull, Chief Petey will find himself in heap big trouble. With three candidates running against him, there is no God-given way he could possibly keep greater than 50% of the vote.  Hells, all they need to do is toss their names in and watch Sessions' numbers dive.

And that, my friends, is how you force the rat into a runoff, and then you beat the pants off him when you appeal to all those who wished to vote for someone else, anyone else, that's "not Pete Sessions". You do the math.

Ted Cruz: Conservative's Bad Boy

It is amazing how much hatred oozes from the liberal gasbags at Salon.  In a rant that pretty much summed up anyone who believes in the Constitution as an extremist, liberal loon author Heather Digby Parton is right about one thing; no matter what  happens during this GOP Gong Show, Senator Ted Cruz will end up far more powerful in Washington DC than anyone might have predicted.

Imagine if you will, an utterly frustrated Speaker of the House John Boehner actually skulking away and quitting.  Boehner is even resorting to childish, underhanded tactics to get back at Cruz and the like by vowing eternal admiration of Planned Parenthood funding. Imagine a defeated Kevin McCarthy, the love-child of Boehner and his boys, dropping out of the Speaker race because the people cannot get behind another establishyster.

For conservatives, Ted Cruz's jockeying is about as good as it gets, because someone is actually listening to the people. The McCarthy caving is proof that we can set things right in DC, all it takes is work.  Oh and by the way, Cruz is a senator, not a house member, yet he has the ability to effect this kind of challenge in the Speaker race.   Imagine that.

Indeed, Ted Cruz is the bad boy of conservatism, and no matter who gets the gong in the end, Washington DC will never be the same.

Daddy's Little Girl

I never considered myself one of those princess-type daughters and I most certainly never thought of myself as daddy's little girl.  Yet once I turned 50, I have rethought all manner of things about my life. In those revelations, I have determined that I have a special kind of relationship with my dad and I am so blessed to have him in my life still.

When I was younger, my dad was always there, in the background, watching over me.  When I first learned to skate, he was there holding my hand.

After my high school graduation, he was there for me, driving me to Eastern Michigan University three days a week. On our trips home, he would tell me all the escapades of his CB pals.  I would be so exhausted after a long day of classes and a couple hours working at the bookstore, that I would collapse into the passenger seat of his yellow Rabbit.  He loved that car so much he even took on the CB handle of Bugs Bunny.  As I sat, slumped and in a semi-vegetative state in his car, he suddenly hiss, "What's that!" and point in front of me, scaring me half to death.  Sometimes he would suddenly scratch his fingernails on the knee of my jeans, making a noise about as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard.  Yes, my dad would annoy me, but it was the most pleasant annoyance ever known.

Later, when my mom put him on a diet, he and I would secretly stop and get ice cream on the way home.  "Shhh, don't tell mom," he would whisper to my nodded approval.  When I was 20 we would occasionally stop at the bar for happy hour, and his workmates would buy me a drink or two.  Again, this was not to be any of my mother's business.  This was strictly between father and daughter.

My dad was always there in the background.  He walked me down the aisle twice.  He visited me in California, Michigan, and Texas.  On one particularly interesting occasion, we had gone on a long fall color drive in Michigan and we stopped to get soda.  I tossed a $1 at him and he kept refusing to take it. We tossed it back and forth over the car seat until finally he relented.  The next weekend my parents came over to play Pinochle and toward the end of the game he retreated to the bathroom for quite a long time.  We were concerned something was wrong when he came out and wanted to leave right away.  Wouldn't you know that evening I found that dollar bill wrapped up in my toilet paper roll, made to look as if nothing had been touched.  Soon that dollar found itself taped to the outside of their 2nd floor bedroom window, mailed to me when I moved to California, relocated back to Michigan in my mother's oven mitt just before Christmas.  After that, the bill was gone.  I'm convinced he has it somewhere waiting for me 20 years later.

My dad was there when my mother had her heart attacks.  And in March I was able to visit them for nearly two weeks to help out.  During this time I found a beautiful pillow which I placed on his bed before I left.

I also stayed up late the night before I left, leaving them notes in their puzzle books.  Two weeks later, when my dad found his special note in the Sudoku book, he returned it to me with his own special note.

Since then, every call we end with, "I love you more!"  This week I had sent my mother a box full of pretzel bags because she was complaining she couldn't find the ones with cheese in the middle, and at the same time my father sent me a little surprise.

When the doorbell rang today, the postman left a box full of my dad's old socks, and a special little note to tell me how much he loves me.

I have come to realize that I am indeed my daddy's little girl after all.
