Wylie Tough Love Talk

Perhaps some feel I was a bit hard on our council in my previous tax rate post.   I should be grateful about the one cent tax decrease proposed, and believe me, I am. But my home assessment has increased dramatically over the last two years and a two cent decrease will mean little compared to the additional property tax outgo over those two years.

It's time for a little tough tax love, Wylie folks.  As much as I love Wylie, and as much as I have grown to love our Mayor Eric Hogue, I simply cannot ignore the 1000lb gorilla staring me in the face. Wylie's tax rate is ridiculous.

Why do I say this?  Because I know what every other city tax rate is in Collin County.  To view rates click here.

The closest city tax rate to Wylie's .8789 is Dallas city tax at .797 followed by Farmersville at .785736.  And Councilman David Dahl dared complain at the budget workshop last night that our tax rate is always tossed in their face.  Totally for realz.  Might I suggest that it is for a very good reason?

We are a whopping 8 cents higher than anyone else in Collin County.  And of those cities elsewhere that Wylie likes to compare themselves to, Frisco is .46, Celina is .645, Allen is .54, Rockwall is .4955, and Rowlett is .7872.

Yet when Councilman Whitney suggests a 2 cent decrease, nearly everyone up there spits up in their mouth because they just need to, got to, have that $200K sitting in the budget for 4 police officers when they haven't even filled the 4 vacant slots they have.  Oh, and they admitted that others will leave as well.  With a revolving door like that, they will never fill those 4 spots and the funds sit, unused.  Sounds real smart huh?.

At the meeting they proceeded to spoon feed that little tidbit of data to Councilman Whitney, who shut up because he was completely defeated by the gang.  Unfortunately, brute force stomped out any flicker of discussion on a viable topic that should have been handled better.  Why? Because once you give our city the money, you can't pry it from their cold, stiff hands.

So exactly how do these cities handle less tax revenue and function just fine?  Wow, Wylie must be super special.

If other larger, similar, and smaller cities can curb their spending and still afford to pay staff, PD, fire and rescue, why can't we?  I think it's time for some tough love.

Wylie Budget Talks Baffling

I am a tad bit annoyed at what I saw in last evening’s Wylie City Council budget work session. Astonishingly, our Mayor exclaimed on behalf of the City that they don't sit on money, but they are doing exactly that with $200K.  No, really.  When you have to make a straw man argument like that, you just committed a major whoopsie.

There are precisely 4 open PD slots, and the department is asking for 4 more, for a total of 8. That's right.  In fact, it will admittedly take them one year to hire someone and get them trained to hit the street, and they have 4 slots open that they are having trouble filling. I bet their chances of filling those 4 slots in a year is pretty darned slim too.  But hey, they want your $200K sitting in the budget, just in case they get an eight man run on coppers who are jonesing to place their lives at risk to work for the City of Wylie. Seriously, I bet former Councilman Bennie Jones is for hire.

When the budget first rolled around, PD only wanted 2 officers. Suddenly that number has doubled, but it really shouldn't be any surprise why.   Every month we read about the increase in sales tax revenue in the local newspaper.  For the past three years we’ve witnessed our property taxes increasing dramatically. This budget year, it's no surprise that every week we read about the spending bonanza all the departments appear to be on. Yup, your hard earned tax dollars are a golden cash cow again, and some of the departments appear to want to milk that teat pretty hard.

Revenue is up, make no mistake about it, so why Councilman William Whitney got a group smack down for suggesting they provide tax payers with a little more tax break than the one cent proposed is a mystery.  Yup, Whitney had the audacity to ask them to consider tossing 2 cents at us. BOOM! Then the rest closed ranks while Mayor felt the need to inform Whitney that they still appreciate him (insert massive rolley-eyeball smiley here). Ya, I believe that.  I'm  pretty sure they appreciate him about as much as they have appreciated me over the years.

On discussion about the plethora of departmental spending requests, Wylie City Manager Mindy Manson stated that our tax revenue boon, “gives us the amount to fund quite a bit and reduce the tax rate.” I mean seriously, does anyone truly believe a 2 cent decrease is going to kill the budget, what with all the tax revenue and property tax rolling in? What about a 1.5 cent decrease then?  Or even 1.25 cent decrease?  Nopers.  There was not going to be any direction given to staff to come up with an additional tax reduction.  Mayor was having none of that.

To add insult to injury, Mayor tosses out the 92 cents we could actually increase to, voted in by the citizens when home values were a whopping $100-150K.  It's the little blackmail torch that can be pulled out and whipped around to shut down any further discussion. I don't know why he always goes there because there is not one citizen that is going to tolerate that 92 cent crap, not after what we've been through since the 2008 election.  People are on to our elected citizens like flies to pig poo.

It was no surprise Councilwoman Diane Culver has a hard-on for the PD and went to bat for the $200K idle funds.  Sounds smart to leave it sitting there doing nothing in the off chance of hiring 8 officers and needing the funding available, just in case.

Hey, I love our PD as much as anyone else, but 8 open slots is a tad ridiculous.  It takes a year of training before they can even hit the street.  So think about this, if they hired all 4 open slots this year, they still wouldn't be ready to use the funds for another 4 popo. It's money sitting there, committed and unused. That's dumb and quite frankly, baffling.

Then there is that superficial threat tossed around annually that we are going to be tapped out. Wylie has been threatened to be built-out for the last 4 budget years, but that hasn't happened.  Also admittedly, Mayor stated the acreage sitting near the new Walmart is going to be developed for additional industrial which would bring more tax revenue.

Wylie is not going to be tapped out anytime soon and our home values are going to continue to increase for quite a while. There are plenty of people sitting on property that is not for sale, but will be when they can make millions off it.  Additionally, the City will probably begin annexing their ETJ property over time.  I mean, why wouldn't they with the growth popularity of Wylie, and especially after the toll road fiasco, when there were plenty of homeowners who would have happily handed over property tax revenue to the City of Wylie just to garner some protection.

You want to see home values increase like a son of a gun?  You want to see new homes snapped up and force an even greater increase in our home values?  Cut our tax rate so it really means something. Split the diff, add the 2 headcount to PD, and toss us another half or quarter cent. Sheesh, do I have to do all the thinking for 6 of them sitting at the dais last night?

Evidently Wylie City Council has jumped back on the spending spree because they think nobody is watching.   But they would be wrong.

Planned Parenthood Butchers Strike Again

This video is so incredibly painful to watch. Planned Parenthood folks discussing on costs for baby bits and pieces as they lay in a tray.

This third video is perhaps the most damning of all videos released. WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES starting about 7:48 in video.

Not only should we immediately defund Planned Parenthood, but they should also be prosecuted.

No longer can anyone who watches the videos released continue to consider themselves pro-choice. They are not pro-choice, they are pro-abortion and they need to understand the difference.

Most importantly, the intentional harvesting of viable body bits disproves the claim that women have the right to abort these babies because they are merely blobs.  A blob does not contain viable, living tissue worthy of the exchange of funds. These videos are proof.

Planned Parenthood is nothing more than an abortion racket.

To view the 2nd video of Planned Parenthood executive haggling over the price per piece, you can view it by clicking this link.

Planned Parenthood's Newest Harvest

Snap, crackle, pop is unimaginably heard echoing through the wildest imaginings of my mind.  Like an echo chamber, all I can hear is the nonchalant clinking of silverware on plates and lifting of wine glasses as dismemberment of unborn babies is discussed.

If you have not watched this video, please do so.  It will change your mind about Planned Parenthood and why they must be defunded.

This is just plain grotesque.  Dr. Debra Nucatola, the Senior Director of Medical Services, speaks of the unspeakable as if, you know, it happens every day.  Except it does.  Thousands of times every day.  Sure, you can no longer buy trans-fats but you can buy baby legs.

Planned Parenthood affiliates are harvesting unborn baby bits and pieces during abortions and selling them for profit.  Worse yet, Planned Parenthood Corporate knows full well about it, but is attempting to hide in order to prevent the entire entity from collapsing should one "franchise" get caught.  This woman is top level PP.

The implications of this discovery mean that if you are pro-life, there are two things you can no longer claim in your battle cry for abortion: that you are pro-choice, when in fact you are pro-abortion, and that unborn babies are just useless, unfeeling blobs, obviously not if baby bits are being harvested and sold at profit.  Not so blob anymore, eh?

Many federal laws have been admittedly broken here by Planned Parenthood.  First, in order to turn a baby breach to extract it without damaging those precious bits and pieces, a partial birth takes place. Partial birth abortions are illegal and changing the method of abortion for harvesting tissue is illegal. However in the video, Nucatola exclaims that the law is open to interpretation.  It's how liberals are able to look at themselves in the mirror every morning.

Next, selling body parts of unborn babies for profit is illegal, though those progressive liberal bloggers are out in full force telling their mindless readers that the video was bogus, despite nobody putting words in Nucatola's mouth.

Finally, let's not forget that pesky little law that requires written consent by the mother for transfer of tissue. If it is in the documents she signs, I'm sure it is buried.  Then again, if you can go get that old "blob" sucked out of you, what do you care what they do with the bits and pieces swirling around in a mason jar?  Sadly, it is an extremely haunting image I will never forget after sitting through my best friend's abortion in 1984.  You can read about it in Punk Life.  It is something I can  never forgive myself for being a part of and it is the reason I am Pro-Life.

Watch the video and see the face of evil being stuffed with food and wine as she explains all about the procedures and "huddles" beforehand to discuss which parts are in demand. Watch her explain how the baby bods are manipulated and forceped in just the right areas so as not to damage those precious nuggets being mined.  Make no mistake, Planned Parenthood is an abortion ring all about procuring abortions and baby bits for profit, rather than the feigned clean and warm clinic caring for the safety, health, and well-being of women.

If these blobs being snipped, chopped up, and sucked out aren't real, why would they take such care to harvest living, viable tissue?  Let's stop pretending abortion is about a woman's right to evacuate a blob, because it's a baby.

Digging that Body

Forget your measly removal of statutes and flags, the cartooned, swirling-eyed, Orwellian Ministry of Truth are descending upon the resting place and desecrating dead bodies in order to re-write history. And these misguided idiots actually think they are doing us all a favor.

The Memphis City Council wants the remains of General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife exhumed and moved in what can only be described as the most disturbing banning attempt yet.  Oh, and it was unanimous too. The man fought for his country, it matters little that the country no longer exists.  He has family members alive today because he once lived and breathed.  Are we to exhume all slave-owners from their resting place now because the Confederate flag is being banned in high fashion?  Let the dead rest, it matters little where they do it.

We have a totalitarian regime in action and coming to a town near you. There is an extermination of American history by Communists.  So Orwellian I cannot believe people are just standing by as the "Ministry" takes over. Go re-read your 9th grade  literature assignment and remind yourself of how distasteful you found the ministry back then.

This is not what rational people do with history. Rational people learn from their mistakes and move forward, swearing to never repeat them.  The appropriate response is not to run and hide, and attempt to re-write history by removing or defacing what we don't like.

Will the Pilgrims be next?  Do we remove Plymouth Rock and ban Thanksgiving Day because of what ultimately happened to the natives? Will we be digging up all the German dead because they once followed Hitler? Will we turn our backs on Israel because of their war with Palestine, indeed it has already started. Will we start holding trials, charging dead people with racism and an outcome of remains removal or not?  It is irrational, and this whole Confederate attack is irrational as well.

It used to be that groups and nations believed burial grounds to be sacred and you do not disturb the dead.  Suddenly allowing out of control government entities to dig them up, and remove their statues is vogue.

If this is the response we can look forward to, then I believe we need to be afraid, very afraid.
